There is really only so much you can do with curly hair. I often get it cut and my friends (or mom) will say, "oh, it looks the same." Unless you get a dramatic cut with curly hair, no matter what you seem to do it constantly looks the same. At least, that is what has been my story. I've had my hair pretty much one way my entire life. Really, really long. The only thing that changed was whether I straightened it that day or not. My hair also ends up in a ponytail at the end of most days as well. When I go to work it has to be in a pony. When I workout, I have to have it off my neck. I can literally count on one hand the number of times I have cut my hair short. Once right before I went to college, then another time during college and I donated 11 inches! And now. As of last Friday afternoon. I've never been one to freak out over haircuts, I either like it or I don't. And if I don't, I'll just wear it in a pony until it's time to cut it again. Yet, whenever I do cut off significant inches from my head, it always takes me a minute. No, I have never cried. I just sit there staring in the mirror, running my hands over it, channeling my inner Rapunzel. Hoping that if I start singing, it's magic powers would work wonders and put all the hair on the floor back on my head! This is how I was last Friday. As I swung around to look in the mirror and my hairdresser asked me, "Don't tell me we went too short?" I replied, "No. I've had it this short before. It just takes me a minute." Did I say I liked it? Nope. Did I say I hated it? Nope. I just sat there wondering why I let her keep cutting. Pros & Cons of Having Long Hair
Pros & Cons of Having Short Hair
That last con is a whammy! So, although I couldn't think of a lot of cons for having the shorter hair, there are pros and cons to both. Like there is with anything. There might be some days where I will hate it and wish desperately that my long hair would instantaneously come back. But, there will also be days where I absolutely love it and want to keep it short forever. That will probably not happen though. I'll just keep with my cycle of growing it out super, super long and then cutting it short once every three years. For now, I'm going to try and forget about the fact that it makes me look even younger (because I certainly didn't need help in that area!) and enjoy it. A little change never hurt anyone. And after all, it is just hair and it will grow back. :) Tips & Tricks for Curly Hair I am by no means a hair dresser or expert, these are just things that work well for me.
